Insulcon Technical was commissioned by a major contractor to provide a Passive Fire Protection solution for a number of valves on the Teekay Petrojarl Banff FPSO Vessel on behalf of their client.
Our expert team were able to rapidly deploy a team to survey the required areas, which included 6 Emergency Shut Down Valves (ESDV’s), along with their associated riser pipework. The Multi-Award-Winning Jet Fire Pro PFP System was selected for the job due to its proven ability to protect assets for over 120 minutes (as witnessed and approved by Lloyds Register and DNV-GL).
The specification was based on a number of known conditions including an Ambient Temperature of 35°C and a Limiting Temperature of 200°C. We also ensured the system included our world-class Weather Protection system that would prevent water ingress and Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI).
The surveying team collected precise measurements which would allow the end products to fit closely to the equipment for ultimate protection. Measurements were sent back to the manufacturing facility electronically, with designs being fed directly into our fully automated, advanced manufacturing system.
Overall the Passive Fire Protection system, the Jet Fire Pro, was constructed as a single layer making less than 60mm thick and 80% lighter than alternatives in the market place.
